About
In pondering a name for our congregation, we desired to avoid labels that are legally tied to the current governmental structure, i.e., towns, counties and states. A convenient solution was found while studying Native American history. Ouichita is the French variant of Wichita, which was a native tribe that once inhabited the North Central area of Texas. The Ouichita were a peaceful people who never engaged in hostilities with Texas or the U.S.
“This Bible is for the Government of the People, by the People,
and for the People.”
That was written John Wycliffe in the introduction of his 1384 Bible translation. In other words, the phrase “government of the people, by the people, for the people” originated well before Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and even the U.S. Constitution. It is our opinion that the lifestyle still enjoyed by Americans today is due simply to the inertia set in motion by the way of life of virtuous people who learned to govern themselves BEFORE the legal entity known as the U.S. Government came into existence. Since its formation, a moral and free people have steadily abdicated their self-governing responsibility of caring for one another through charity and have moved steadily toward a covetous style of government that provides for the needy through force.
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27
“World” in that verse is the Greek word kosmos and is defined as “an apt and harmonious arrangement or constitution, order, government.” Today’s government-licensed [501(c)(3)] churches practice and preach religion very much spotted by the world. Rather than providing for their needy through charity, they plug them into the world’s system of forced taxation (welfare/Social Security/etc.).
In the Old Testament, the words “gods” and “God” are both translated from the single Hebrew word elohiym, defined by Strong’s Concordance as “rulers, judges” and “applied as deference to magistrates.” Today’s licensed churches are so impotent because people have stripped away the purpose of church and placed it in the hands of the “gods many” (rulers, judges, kings) that they choose through the ballot box. The free people of early America with true churches still understood this concept when Patrick Henry—preacher and prominent signer of the Declaration of Independence—refused to sign the Constitution. Most people of that time understood that their rights were compromised when they gave their responsibilities of self-government over to others. Today’s U.S. Citizens pay homage to their official religion by taking care of their needy through the force of the U.S. Government.
The temples of the Bible were the institutions of the world’s government…

His Church at Ouichita does not seek to undermine the world’s government. We recognize the wicked (those who shirk their responsibilities) must be governed by force. At the same time, we walk a road of repentance and strive to systematically take back our responsibility to care for the needy through freewill offerings.
The authority of the congregation rests with the elders of the families that freely assemble. They have currently chosen Caleb Eaton to serve as their Minister (administrator) of Record and they are free to change their minds at any point.
